WHAT MAT SHOULD I UPGRADE TO?

It depends on your needs.

We get this question a lot and its good one. To answer it lets start by saying that picking a mat is kind of like going to Olivander’s and getting a wand. It should be an in-person experience if possible! There’s no better way to tell if something is right for you then to try it on right? So get down here and feel the material. Your favorite mat is calling your name.

So heres the deal. If you practice more yoga than pilates we highly recommend the WAY-MAT. These towel mats are a two-in one deal and are great for House Jams or House Yoga. They even have a built in towel flap for rabbit pose!

After class you can pop them in the wash and they are clean for your next class. Score! We love that the WAY-MAT is super absorbent, grippy and functions as a killer beach towel.

Here’s the only catch. On our hot room floors they don’t make the best House HIIT towels. They simply aren’t designed with burpees in mind and tend to roll up a bit under the feet if your form isn’t perfect every time. Or maybe it’s just me? You can still use them for a high movement HIIT class in a bind but make sure you roll up the mat half way when you are doing your cardio!

If you practice yoga and pilates equally we recommend getting a Manduka mat pairing it with a Yogitoes towel. But which Manduka mat to get is the question? This is where your needs come into play. How much support do you need?

If you’re like me and have bad knees then you’ll want something with a bit more cushion. Say goodbye to double folding your mat in camel pose and listening to the sound of your joints adjusting. Ew. Bye! Okay, okay so the mats you’ll want to choose between are the Manduka Pro Mat 6mm or the Manduka GRP 6mm. You will be so happy you got something with a bit more bulk that grips to the floor like glue.

Now if your joints aren’t an issue and you’re one of luckies then check out the Manduka light or pro light mat or Eko series. Not only are these mats physically lighter, they are less expensive too. A great purchase if you travel frequently or simply don’t require a ton of support.

The fun part with the Manduka mats is that you can continue to mix up the look and feel of your mat with a few different yogitoes towels. Other than being the worlds most beautiful towels, yogitoes are super functional. They absorb sweat, stay put on your mat and come in a variety of solid and patterned designs.
